Wall painting LUMC Leiden 2017
In 2017, Jasper van der Graaf participated in the exhibition In het licht van De Stijl (In the Light of De Stijl) at Galerie LUMC in Leiden. The exhibition, which opened on May 11, was introduced by Doris Wintgens, curator of modern art at Museum De Lakenhal. It showcased how the stylistic principles of De Stijl, such as geometric abstraction and the reduction of color and form, continue to influence contemporary art.
Van der Graaf presented wall paintings in which he organically developed geometric patterns that moved freely across the surface, effectively utilizing the dynamics of the diagonal. Other participating artists included Henriëtte van 't Hoog, Richard van der Aa, Jan Maarten Voskuil, Iemke van Dijk, Guido Winkler, Esther Tielemans, Saskia Noor van Imhoff, Fleur van Dodewaard, Kevin Bauer, and Krijn de Koning. This exhibition was part of the celebration of the 100th anniversary of De Stijl, founded by Theo van Doesburg in Leiden. The event highlighted the enduring impact of De Stijl on modern artists like Van der Graaf.
